SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/10-20.69 new
105 ILCS 5/34-18.61 new

    Amends the School Code. Requires a school board to adopt a mass incident policy and procedure guide that outlines the procedures that must be followed if a mass incident occurs within a school; defines "mass incident". Provides that the guide must include a plan for treating a child's trauma after a mass incident. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.69 and 34-18.61 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-20.69 new)
7    Sec. 10-20.69. Mass incident policy and procedure guide.
8    (a) In this Section, "mass incident" means a traumatic
9event involving 10 or more children as victims or witnesses,
10including a school shooting or sexual assault.
11    (b) Each school board must adopt a mass incident policy and
12procedure guide that outlines the procedures that must be
13followed if a mass incident occurs within a school. The guide
14must include a plan for treating a child's trauma after a mass
15incident.
