SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
215 ILCS 5/352b new
215 ILCS 5/356z.16 rep.

    Amends the Illinois Insurance Code in an Article concerning accident and health insurance. Provides that "policy of individual or group accident and health insurance" does not include any coverage or policy that provides an excepted benefit, as defined in the federal Public Health Service Act. Provides that the amendatory Act does not apply to certain policies of insurance. Repeals provisions that state that specified provisions of the Article do not apply to short-term travel, disability income, long-term care, accident only, or limited or specified disease policies. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding
5Section 352b as follows:
 
6    (215 ILCS 5/352b new)
7    Sec. 352b. Policy of individual or group accident and
8health insurance. Unless specified otherwise and when used in
9context of accident and health insurance policy benefits,
10coverage, terms, or conditions required to be provided under
11this Article, "policy of individual or group accident and
12health insurance", as used in this Article, does not include
13any coverage or policy that provides an excepted benefit, as
14that term is defined in Section 2791(c) of the federal Public
15Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 300gg-91). Nothing in this
16amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly applies to a
17policy of liability, workers' compensation, automobile medical
18payment, or limited scope dental or vision benefits insurance
19issued under this Code.

21    Section 10. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by
22repealing Section 356z.16.

1    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2becoming law.
