SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William James "Bill" Howard of Pinegree
4Grove, formerly of Aurora, who passed away on November 3, 2018;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Howard was born in Princeton to William
7Corbett and Rosella (Elmblad) Howard on March 20, 1942; his
8parents were teachers and instilled in their sons the value of
9an education; in high school, he lettered and earned honors in
10football, basketball, and track; he set the school's shot-put
11record and remains the seventh all-time leading scorer in
12basketball at Princeton High School; he attended Princeton
13University, where he was the captain of the 1963-1964
14basketball team that won the Ivy League championship and
15advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen; he was also the starting
16tight end and defensive end for the Tiger's football team that
17also won the Ivy League championship his senior year; he
18graduated from Princeton with a degree in history in 1964; he
19then returned to Illinois and attended the University of
20Chicago business school; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Bill Howard served as the CFO of the Barber Greene
22Company in Aurora and helped the company become the leading
23global manufacturer of road pavers, conveyors, and other

1construction equipment; he then worked as the CFO of Railcar
2Specialties and finished his career as a business consultant in
3accounting, tax, and finance; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bill Howard was an avid traveler, gardener, and
5bibliophile; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Bill Howard was preceded in death by his parents;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bill Howard is survived by his wife of 50 years,
9Jo; his children, Sean Howard, Seth Howard, and Holly (Ryan
10Page) Howard; his brothers, Bob, Corby (Kathy), Tim (Patty),
11and James (Sue) Howard; and his many cousins, nieces, and
12nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15William James "Bill" Howard and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Bill Howard as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
