SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charliene T. Kloppenburg of Springfield,
4who passed away on August 23, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was born in Springfield to
6Charles and Amelia (Noll) Tucker on October 26, 1927; she
7graduated from Lanphier High School in 1945; she married Henry
8R. Kloppenburg on September 28, 1955; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was a member of many
10organizations, including the PEO Chapter CA, the Eastern Star,
11The Springfield Civic Garden Club, the Springfield Theater
12Guild, the Springfield Symphony Guild, as well as several
13bridge clubs; she was a lifetime member of St John's Lutheran
14Church, where she sang in the choir and served as the Bible
15school superintendent and Sunday School teacher for many years;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was a lifelong learner and
18treasured music, theater, and the written word; she was known
19for her singing and the ability to recite classic poems from
20memory; she had a deep faith and an open heart; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg was preceded in death by her

1parents; her husband, Henry; and her brother, William Tucker;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Charliene Kloppenburg is survived by her
4daughters, Christa (Jim) Fleming and Martha Kohlrus; her
5grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda, and Megan Fleming, Tara
6(Frank) Kulavic, and Trevor Kohlrus; her great-grandchildren,
7Frankie, Nolan, Jack, Cal, and Posie Kulavic; and her many
8nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Charliene T. Kloppenburg and extend our sincere condolences to
12her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Charliene Kloppenburg as an
16expression of our deepest sympathy.
