SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Florida Sullivan, who passed away on June
427, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan was born in Hushpuckena
6Mississippi to Oscar Sr. and Dora McElroy on December 18, 1935;
7she graduated from school in her home town and relocated to St.
8Louis in 1952, where she resided for a brief period before
9moving to Chicago in 1958; she married Roderick E. Sullivan;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan was employed in the housekeeping
12industry for over 30 years; she worked at the Palmer House, the
13John Hancock building, Lake Point Tower, and numerous other
14locations in the Chicago Loop and Lake Shore Drive areas; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan attended New True Vine
16Missionary Baptist Church; she enjoyed time with her family and
17friends, chocolate treats, playing cards, working in her yard,
18and BINGO; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan was preceded in death by her
20husband, Roderick; her parents; and her siblings, Flora, Susie,
21Emma, Maggie, Oscar Jr., and Nancy; and

1    WHEREAS, Florida Sullivan is survived by her children,
2Royce (Lisa D.), Roschelle, Emmanuel (Nellie R.), and Andrea
3(Dennis); her sister, Dora; her brother, William H.; her
4grandchildren, Royce Jr., Laronce, Jontel, Shanita, Terry Jr.,
5Roderick, Demi, Denee, Rodney, Joshua, and Denise Maryanna; 11
6great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Florida Sullivan, and extend our sincere condolences to her
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Florida Sullivan as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
