SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John "Jack" Cooper of Edwardsville, who
4passed away on August 15, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was born in Bethalto to Ben and Ann
6(Knudtson) Cooper; he graduated from Civic Memorial High School
7in Bethalto in 1960 and attended Illinois College for two
8years; he married Sandy Angle at the Carrollton Baptist Church
9in 1964; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jack Cooper's career as a banker spanned over 30
11years, which included his tenure as vice-president of the First
12National Bank of Granite City; his last job before retirement
13was at PNC Bank in Springfield; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was a devoted and committed member of
15the communities in which he lived and worked; his volunteerism
16included the YMCA of Granite City, the booster club of Granite
17City High School, where he served as president during the 1980s
18while his son was a student there, and the Villa Marie Pool
19Association in Godfrey, where he served as president during the
201970s; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was an avid reader and sports fan; he

1enjoyed watching or listening to St. Louis Cardinals and St.
2Louis Blues games and taking his grandson, Jack, to his soccer,
3hockey, and baseball games and practices; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jack Cooper was preceded in death by his parents
5and his sister, Pat Cooper Schmittling; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Jack Cooper is survived by his wife of 54 years,
7Sandy; his son, Jeff (Francesca) Cooper; his grandchildren,
8Jack, Ella, Maggie, and Maria Cooper and Norman Harris; his
9brother, Ben (Joan) Cooper and his children and grandchildren;
10and many other family members and dear friends; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14John "Jack" Cooper, and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jack Cooper as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
