SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Norma Jean Jensen of Waukegan, who passed
4away on May 13, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norma Jensen was born to Rudolph and Anna Liebert
6on June 3, 1936; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Prior to her return to Waukegan, Norma Jensen and
8her husband, Wayne, resided in Waianae, Hawaii; she loved
9taking long walks collecting papayas, mangos, and peacock
10feathers; she especially enjoyed taking the bus into Honolulu
11for her activities; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After her retirement from the Waukegan Public
13Schools, Norma Jensen became a fulltime volunteer; she received
14numerous recognitions for her volunteer work, including the
15President's Call to Service Award; she gave many hours to
16Vista, the Greenbelt Cultural Center, Habitat for Humanity,
17AARP, the Lake County Council for Seniors, the Park Place
18Senior Center, Queens Medical Center Hawaii, Look Good Feel
19Better, the Festival of Trees, Lake County Elections, Lake
20County Sheriff, Waukegan's Citizen Emergency Responders, Elder
21Care, and Meals on Wheels; and

1    WHEREAS, Norma Jensen was a member of First United
2Methodist Church in Waukegan and Waianae, Hawaii; she was
3involved with the choir, ringing bells, coordinating and
4serving free meals, mission trips, and sharing her crafting
5talents at vacation bible school; she also was involved with
6the Little Fort Lions Club, where she was a recipient of the
7Red Carisson Humanitarian Award and served as president twice;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Norma Jensen enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting,
10knitting, sewing, watching football and hockey, listening to
11classical music, flower arranging, shopping, and gardening;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Norma Jensen was preceded in death by her husband
14of 25 years, Wayne Childers; her son, Richard Jensen; her
15brother, Bill Liebert; and her son-in-law, Bruce Anderson; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Norma Jensen is survived by her brother, Fredrick
17Liebert; her daughter, Jodi Anderson; her granddaughters,
18Jennifer (Mario) Demo and Sarah (Tim VanderVere) Anderson; and
19her great-grandchildren, Kai Demo and Lily May and Olivia
20VanderVere; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Norma Jean Jensen, and extend our sincere condolences to her
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
3further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Norma Jensen as an expression of our
6deepest sympathy.
