SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Stanley F. "Stan" Jozwiak of Woodstock,
4who passed away on May 27, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stan Jozwiak was born in LaSalle to Stanley and
6Edith Jozwiak on May 9, 1927; he was educated in LaSalle and
7attended St. Joseph Grade School and St. Bede Academy, where he
8excelled academically while participating in sports; he
9achieved the Life Rank in the Boy Scouts and was an avid
10weightlifter, amateur boxer, and member of the LaSalle Barbell
11Club; after graduating in 1945, he enlisted in the United
12States Marine Corps, the United States Navy, and the Marine
13Corp Reserve; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Stan Jozwiak was a proud Marine and participated
15in the occupation of China at the close of World War II; he was
16called back to serve in the Korean Conflict, while attending
17the University of Illinois-Champaign; he had attended
18LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College, now known as Illinois
19Valley Community College, where he played football; he finished
20his education at Bradley University and earned a Bachelor of
21Science in Business Administration; he married Mary Ann
22Schlosser in Peru at St. Mary's Church on October 11, 1952; and

1    WHEREAS, Stan Jozwiak started his career at Illinois Bell,
2while attending school on the GI Bill; he held various
3management positions throughout the State during his 38-year
4career; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stan Jozwiak was active in the Rotary Club, the
6Lions Club, and the Chamber of Commerce; he participated in
7many charitable events and coached St. Mary's football, Little
8League, and Teener League; he was also involved in Boy Scouts
9and the Marian Central High School's Fathers Club; he belonged
10to the China Marine Association and enjoyed attending yearly
11reunions; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Stan Jozwiak was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs,
13and in his younger years, he and his friends enjoyed their
14weekend excursions to the Chicago Bears games; he also enjoyed
15attending his grandchildren's concerts, dance performances,
16and sporting events; he looked forward to the second Wednesday
17of each month, when he and the Telephone Pioneers met for their
18monthly luncheon; he was a great mentor, friend, father, and
19husband; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Stan Jozwiak was preceded in death by his sisters,
21Nancy Jozwiak and Jean (Bud) Block; his son, John Jozwiak; and
22his granddaughter, Amy (Michael) Thornton; and

1    WHEREAS, Stan Jozwiak is survived by his wife, Mary Ann;
2his children, Susan (Dave) Sweet, Robert (Suzanne) Jozwiak,
3Steven (Sara) Jozwiak, Julie Jozwiak, and Janet Jozwiak; his
4seven grandchildren, his four great-grandchildren; and his
5brother, James (Joan) Jozwiak; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Stanley F. "Stan" Jozwiak and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Stan Jozwiak as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
