SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Geraldine T. "Gerri" Fitzgerald of
4McHenry, who passed away on May 6, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerri Fitzgerald was born in Chicago to Matthew
6and Anne (Brod) Wolshan on May 1, 1930; she married Raymond
7Fitzgerald on September 20, 1952; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Gerri Fitzgerald spent her free time volunteering
9with the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association
10(NISRA) and assisting blind high school athletes in Mesa,
11Arizona; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gerri Fitzgerald was an avid cyclist, and she
13began training as a triathlete when she was in her 60s; most
14impressively, she rode a 50 mile bike ride in celebration of
15her 80th birthday; her favorite hike was the Grand Canyon; she
16enjoyed traveling the country with Ray in their RV; she
17possessed a quick wit, wicked sense of humor, and a twinkle in
18her eye that will be forever remembered by everyone who knew
19her; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gerri Fitzgerald was preceded in death by her
21parents and her sister; and

1    WHEREAS, Gerri Fitzgerald is survived by her husband,
2Raymond; her children, Kathleen Fitzgerald, Daniel (Margaret)
3Fitzgerald, Robert (Angela) Fitzgerald, Edward (Winnie)
4Fitzgerald, Marianne Fitzgerald, and Colleen (Bill Hayes)
5Fitzgerald; her grandchildren, Emily (Mike) DaValle and Sarah,
6Haley, Laura, and Matthew Fitzgerald; and her
7great-grandchildren, Greyson and Finn; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Geraldine T. "Gerri" Fitzgerald and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Gerri Fitzgerald as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
