SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Tommy Glisson of Carbondale, who passed
4away on January 8, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson was born in Carbondale to Tommy and
6Velma Nannie (Hartley) Halstead on June 19, 1934; he proudly
7served in the United States Army from October 5, 1953 until
8October 4, 1955; he marred Bonnie Kay Gwaltney on April 25,
91964; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson had a strong work ethic, and over
11his lifetime had 26 jobs, including one with the United States
12Postal Service; he also built and owned rental properties for
13over 54 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson was an avid sports fan and
15especially enjoyed watching Saluki and Grinnell College
16basketball and attending any activities in which his
17grandchildren were involved; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson was preceded in death by his
19parents; his uncles, Gene Mitcheff, Steve Menckowski, Walter
20(Ann) Glisson, John (Tillie) Glisson, Earl (Louise) Glisson,
21and Russell (Louise) Hartley; and his aunts, Hazel Glisson

1(Oscar) Landsford and Etta Glisson (Earl) Worley; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Tommy Glisson is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his
3daughters, Ellen "Roxanne" (Richard) Conley, Mary Jane
4(Glisson) Ekstrand (fiance Kenneth Keller), and Rebecca
5"Becky" Sue Glisson (Gregory George Borowitz Jr.); his
6grandchildren, Robin Ann (Skip) Cutting, Brett Daniel (Rachel)
7Conley, Curtis Matthew Conley, Derek Michael Conley, Aaron
8Jordan Ekstrand, Sarah Caroline Ekstrand, Caleb Thomas
9Ekstrand, Jacob Kennedy Ekstrand, Isaac Martin Ekstrand, Caleb
10Thomas Ekstrand, Hannah Olivia Borowitz, and Liesel Berget
11Borowitz; his great-grandchildren, Adrienne Claire Conley,
12Brandon Clark Conley, and Alexandria Allise Cutting; his aunts,
13Katherine (Glisson) Mitcheff and Fanny (Glisson) Menckowski;
14and his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends;
15therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Tommy Glisson and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
19friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Tommy Glisson as an expression of
22our deepest sympathy.
