|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Helen L. Dunn of Joliet, who passed away |
4 | | on January 11, 2018 at the age of 104; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Dunn was born in Chicago to Herman and |
6 | | Kathryn (Hogan) Lemke on November 7, 1913; she was raised in |
7 | | Oak Park and graduated from Rosary College, now Dominican |
8 | | University; she married Francis A. Dunn at the Log Chapel at |
9 | | Notre Dame in October of 1936; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Helen Dunn was a world traveler; she loved Paris |
11 | | in the spring and once met Pope John Paul II at the Vatican; |
12 | | she enjoyed spending winters in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and |
13 | | spent countless summers on the shores of Lake Michigan in |
14 | | Michigan City, Indiana, where she enjoyed fireworks with her |
15 | | grandchildren, drives to Three Oaks, ice cream, and reading the |
16 | | papers on warm afternoons; she was a born storyteller and was |
17 | | known for her Irish wit and the keeping of family and world |
18 | | news; she had an impeccable sense of style and was a voracious |
19 | | reader; she regularly sent all her friends and family |
20 | | handwritten letters; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Helen Dunn was affectionately known as "Mimi"; she |
22 | | was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all, |

1 | | especially, her loved ones, who treasure the lifetime of |
2 | | stories, advice, mischief, and love she gave as the matriarch |
3 | | of their family; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Helen Dunn was preceded in death by her husband, |
5 | | Francis; her sister, Dolly Young; and her brother, Robert; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Helen Dunn is survived by her daughter, Geraldine |
7 | | Leinenweber; and Geraldine's children and grandchildren, Jane |
8 | | (Campeau), Robert, Sarah, Andrew, Shannon, John (Tara), Jack, |
9 | | Simone, Cora, Thomas (Martha), Katie, Tommy, Peter, Mary, |
10 | | Betsy, Annie, Stephen (Sonya) Beckett, Isabel, Justin |
11 | | (Jennifer), and Harry; and Helen's son, Thomas (Bonnie); and |
12 | | their children and grandchildren, Meagan (Eric), Moira, Kiely |
13 | | (Geoffrey), Cecilia, and Luella; therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Helen L. Dunn, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
18 | | further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Helen Dunn as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy.
