SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Philip M. Corlew of Edwardsville, who
4passed away on October 3, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was born in Litchfield to Morgan B.
6and Mary E. (Handlon) Corlew on June 28, 1938; he married
7Louise R. Gradolph in Champaign on November 12, 1960; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was a civil engineer and registered
9land surveyor in four states; he operated M.B. Corlew &
10Associates in Edwardsville; after merging the business, he
11continued to practice as a consultant and expert witness; he
12served on the licensing board for the Professional Engineers
13for the State of Illinois; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was a member of the First
15Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville; he was a member and past
16president of the Edwardsville Rotary Club, a Paul Harris
17Fellow, and a member of the Edwardsville Gun Club, the Sunset
18Hills Country Club, the American Consulting Engineers Council
19of Illinois, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the
20Sons of the American Revolution; he was proud to be an Eagle
21Scout; he enjoyed hunting with his dogs and friends and was
22proud of his dog's field trial accomplishments; he also enjoyed

1fishing in Colorado; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Philip Corlew was preceded in death by his parents
3and his wife, Louise; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Philip Corlew is survived by his daughters,
5Michelle Corlew and Elise S. Reis; his sister, Mary Georgia
6Simpson; his niece, Sherry Scarsdale; his nephew, Philip
7Simpson; and his great-nephew, William Curtis Beasley;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Philip M. Corlew, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Philip Corlew as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
