SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Sheldon C. Bell of Plainfield, who passed
4away on July 13, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was born in Oswego to Dr. Sheldon F.
6and Ellen P. (Lofdahl) Bell on May 2, 1934; he graduated from
7Oswego High School in 1952 and Northern Illinois University in
81957 with a degree in chemistry; he married Patricia F. Conner
9on September 8, 1956; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was president of Coldwell Banker
11Bell, formerly Bell Realty, which was founded in 1960 by his
12uncle, James C. Bell; he was president of the Will County Board
13of Realtors from 1967 to 1968 and was named Illinois Realtor of
14the Year in 1984; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell served with the First National Bank
16of Joliet Board of Directors, the Center For Economic
17Development, and the Joliet Fire and Police Board; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was a Master Mason at Raven Lodge 303
19in Oswego; he was a member of the Scottish Rite - Valley of
20Chicago, the Shriner at Medinah Temple in Chicago, the Phi
21Sigma Epsilon Fraternity, and Grace United Methodist Church; he

1was an avid pilot; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was preceded in death by his parents
3and his great-granddaughter, Rose Sherman; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell is survived by his wife, Patricia;
5his daughters, Kristin (Thomas) Mulvey, Melissa (Lloyd)
6Meinhart, and Amy (Christopher) Dow; his grandchildren, Dr.
7Megan (Dr. Darrin) Worthington, Patrick (Marika) Mulvey,
8Lauren (Alec) Sherman, Conner (Rachel) Meinhart, Matthew
9Meinhart, and Benjamin and Emily Dow; his
10great-granddaughters, Grace, Claire, and Molly Worthington,
11and Eleanor Sherman; his two sisters, Lynn (Frank) Simmons and
12Justice Rita B. (late Gil) Garman; and several nieces and
13nephews; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Sheldon C. Bell, and extend our sincere condolences to his
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Sheldon Bell as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
