SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Wesley MacGruder of Grand
4Junction, Colorado, who passed away on March 11, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder was born in Indianapolis,
6Indiana to Robert D. and Hester (Wooden) MacGruder on June 5,
71932; his family moved to Colorado in 1939; he attended the
8University of Wyoming and enlisted in the United States Navy,
9serving aboard the U.S.S. Stembel during the Korean War; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Before retiring, Robert MacGruder resided in
11Waukegan; from 1959 to 1973, he was president of the Chamber of
12Commerce in Waukegan, Belvidere, and Laverne, Minnesota; he was
13Executive Vice President of the Lake County Contractors
14Association from 1973 to 1996; and
 
15    WHEREAS, During his career, Robert MacGruder received
16numerous awards such as the Exchange Club's Golden Deeds in
171976; he was active in local and state affairs with the United
18Way, the Port Authority, the Planning Commission, the Lake
19County Economic Development Commission, and the Waukegan Civil
20Service Commission; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder was preceded in death by his

1wives, JoAnn (Wheatley), Lea (Passwaters), and Marilyn
2(Leonard); his parents; his stepfather, Roy Brown; his son,
3Robert W. MacGruder Jr.; his son-in-law, David Nystrom; and
4numerous close friends; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert MacGruder is survived by his daughter,
6Valorie Nystrom; his sons, Greg Ramsey and Jeff (Trina) Ramsey;
7his sisters, Marilyn Barnewall and Dede Hunter; eight
8grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his special friends,
9Duane Wheatley, Wayne Brimer, Tony Vigil, and Harold (Rita)
10Schafer; and numerous other family members and friends;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Robert "Bob" Wesley MacGruder, and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Robert MacGruder as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
