SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James M. Velloff of Alton, who passed
4away on April 18, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Velloff was born in Alton to Marion S. and
6Agnes (Budde) Velloff on February 5, 1938 and graduated from
7Marquette High School in 1956; he earned his Bachelor of
8Science in math with minors in education and philosophy from
9St. Louis University in 1960; he earned his master's degree in
10math from Southern Illinois University in 1968 and married Rita
11Terlisner on November 24, 1960; and
 
12    WHEREAS, James Velloff taught math at Southwestern High
13School from 1960 to 1965 and at Roxana High School from 1965 to
141993; he was also a business partner with his brother, Marion,
15at Velloff's Power Equipment in Alton from 1970 to 2015; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Velloff enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing
17cards, especially bridge and pinochle; he also enjoyed
18traveling and camping with his family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Velloff is survived by his wife, Rita; his
20children, James (Christine) Velloff, Beth (Dennis) Young,
21Michael (Beverly) Velloff, and Richard (Heather) Velloff; his

1grandchildren, Joe, Brian, Renee, and Ellen Young, Erin and
2Kylee Velloff, Clara and Cain Velloff, R.J., Clayton, and
3Patrick Velloff; his brothers, Marion Velloff, Michael
4(Terrah) Velloff, Thomas (Carole) Velloff, and Christopher
5(Sharon) Velloff; and his sister, Pauline Rathgeb; therefore,
6be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9James M. Velloff, and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of James Velloff as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
