SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jo Ann Marie Robinson of Bolingbrook, who
4passed away in April of 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson was born in Bolingbrook on June
627, 1956; she graduated from DuSable High School; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson served in prison ministry from
81993 to 1998; she hosted an award-winning cable show, "From the
9Heart Show"; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson founded the H.E.A.R.T.
11Organization Community Service Program in 1999 and served as
12its director; participants in the program are affectionately
13known throughout her community as the "Spiritual Boot Camp
14Soldiers"; the program has assisted thousands of children,
15helping them avoid prosecution and convictions; it has been
16featured in the Joliet Herald, the Bolingbrook Sun, and The
17Patch Newspaper; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jo Ann Robinson was awarded the "John F.
19Whiteside" lifetime achievement award from the Will County
20Sheriff's Department, the "National Chiefs of Police
21Citation", and the "Seekers of Justice Award" from the Black

1Bar Association in 2012; she was voted "Citizen of the Year" by
2Mayor Roger Claar, and honored by the American Association of
3University Women as the "Distinguished Woman the Year"; in 2005
4and 2006, she received the AT&T "Beyond the Call" award; she
5was awarded "Female Citizen of the Year" by DuPage Township,
6and was honored by the DuPage AME Church for her work with
7at-risk youth; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Jo Ann Marie Robinson, and extend our sincere condolences to
11her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Jo Ann Robinson as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
