SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mel Wallace, who passed away on January
428, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mel Wallace was born in the Bronx, New York on
6February 20, 1931; he served in the United States Army during
7the Korean War; he graduated from California State University
8in Los Angeles, where he was student body president; he
9attended the London School of Economics as a Fulbright Scholar
10and earned a Master of Social Work at Adelphi University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mel Wallace served as Chair of the Criminal
12Justice Department at McHenry County College for 25 years,
13working alongside his wife; he was a beloved and respected
14criminal justice professional and educator; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mel Wallace served as President of the Illinois
16Academy of Criminology, Vice-President of the McHenry County
17Child Advocacy Center Board, and was a member of the Chiefs of
18Police Associations for McHenry County and Illinois; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mel Wallace was preceded in death by his parents
20and his brother; and

1    WHEREAS, Mel Wallace is survived by his wife, Suzanne; his
2children, Robin (Ze'ev), Max (Morag), Jeremy (Kate), and Hope
3(Adam); and by six grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Mel Wallace, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
7friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Mel Wallace as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
