SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
25 ILCS 10/3  from Ch. 63, par. 23.3

    Amends the General Assembly Operations Act. Provides that the rules adopted by the Senate of the preceding General Assembly apply to the Senate of the newly convened General Assembly until new rules are adopted (currently, this provision applies only to the rules of the House of Representatives).

1    AN ACT concerning General Assembly operations.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended
5by changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6    (25 ILCS 10/3)  (from Ch. 63, par. 23.3)
7    Sec. 3.
8    At the convening of the House of Representatives and the
9Senate of each General Assembly the Secretary of State and the
10Governor, as required by the Constitution, shall call the House
11of Representatives and the Senate to order and shall preside
12until a Speaker and President are chosen and have taken their
13seats. For the purpose of the organization and operation of the
14House of Representatives, the rules adopted by and applicable
15to the regular session of the House of Representatives of the
16preceding General Assembly, insofar as such rules may be
17applicable, shall prevail and be the rules governing the House
18of Representatives of the General Assembly then convened, until
19such rules are changed or new rules adopted. For the purpose of
20the organization and operation of the Senate, the rules adopted
21by and applicable to the regular session of the Senate of the
22preceding General Assembly, insofar as such rules may be
23applicable, shall prevail and be the rules governing the Senate
