HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Richwoods High School
4Lady Knights on winning the 2018 Illinois High School
5Association (IHSA) Girls Basketball Class 3A State
6Championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, With immense support from their fellow students
8and the community, seven fan buses were sent to the State
9Championship game at Redbird Arena in Normal on Saturday, March
103, 2018; student fans alone filled two sections of the arena;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Lady Knights bested LaGrange Park Nazareth
13Academy 55-46 to clench the championship title, ending their
14outstanding season with a 35-1 record; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Lady Knights State Championship win was the
161,001 win for the Richwoods girls basketball program and the
17fourth state championship; Richwoods is the third program in
18IHSA history to reach the milestone, joining Chicago Marshall
19and Teutopolis; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The 2018 championship team roster included
21Kourtney Crane (Captain), Natalie Des Jardins, Mariah Hopson,

1Tianna Johnson, Uniquek Johnson, Jaida McCloud, Kileli
2Markovich, Tori Nimmers, Gabbi Okojie, Trinity Sims, Camryn
3Swietek, Camryn Taylor, Nia Williams, and A'miya Wilson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Lady Knights are led by Head Coach Todd
5Hursey, Assistant Coaches Ralph Gallo, Parker Gross, Kevin
6Metzger, and Jordan Hursey, Athletic Trainer Brady Cufaude,
7Manager Sarika Glasnovich, and Statistician Russ Wittmer;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11join the many friends and fans of the Richwoods Lady Knights in
12congratulating them on winning the 2018 Girls Class 3A
13Basketball State Championship, and we wish them continued
14success and a repeat championship in 2019; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
16presented to the Lady Knights as an expression of our esteem
17and respect.
