HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Dalitso S. Sulamoyo will be retiring from the
3Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies after 18
4years of service to the organization, 16 years of which he
5proudly served as the organization's youngest and first African
6American President/CEO; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has also served as the President/CEO
8for two other Community Action support organizations from 2001
9to 2017, which include the Illinois Community Action
10Development Corporation and the Illinois Community Action
11Fund; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has dedicated his life to the
13mission, vision, and values of Community Action as prescribed
14by President Lyndon Baines Johnson in his 1964 Declaration of
15the War on Poverty; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has led the fight for social and
17economic justice on behalf of the Illinois Community Action
18Network and all of the individuals and families throughout
19Illinois who find themselves in the predicament of poverty; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has been actively involved in a
21multitude of spheres at the local, State, and national levels

1dedicated to the cause of resolving the paradox of poverty in
2the midst of plenty in this great nation; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has worked tirelessly to position the
4Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies as a State
5and national leader, resulting in the organization being a
6leading force in the area of advocacy, training, technical
7assistance and capacity building for the Illinois network of 37
8Community Action Agencies; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has successfully led advocacy
10efforts for policies that have resulted in innovative programs
11administered by the Illinois Community Action Agencies that
12will continue to transform the lives of many low-income
13individuals and families for generations to come; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has helped to secure millions of
15dollars in corporate, State, and federal funding on behalf of
16the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies, its
17support organizations, and the Community Action Network in
18order to help advance the cause of social justice for those
19living in poverty; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Dr. Sulamoyo has led the Illinois Association of
21Community Action Agencies with dedication, passion,
22enthusiasm, and motivation that has resounded with its members,

1funders, Board of Directors, staff, and members of this
2political body; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5honor Dr. Dalitso Sulamoyo for his 18 years of service to the
6Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies and we wish
7him well in all his future endeavors; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Dr. Sulamoyo as an expression of our esteem and
10respect.
