    Amends the Protection and Advocacy for Mentally Ill Persons Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the Act's purpose.

1    AN ACT concerning health.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Protection and Advocacy for Mentally Ill
5Persons Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
 
6    (405 ILCS 45/1)  (from Ch. 91 1/2, par. 1351)
7    Sec. 1. Purpose. The The Governor shall designate an agency
8to administer the protection and advocacy system for mentally
9ill persons, pursuant to the federal Protection and Advocacy of
10Mentally Ill Individuals Act of 1986. The agency shall be
11independent of any agency which provides disability-related
12services (other than advocacy services), including treatment,
13rehabilitation, guardianship or habilitation. The agency may
14receive and expend funds to protect and advocate the rights of
15mentally ill persons.
