SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
605 ILCS 5/5-412  from Ch. 121, par. 5-412

    Amends the Illinois Highway Code. Provides that a county board of a county that contracts with a person growing row crops on land adjacent to county highways to buy standing strips of the crops to remain in place to act as snow breaks along the highway may pay the grower an additional sum of money equal to at least 10% of the contract price (rather than a sum of money equal to 10% of the contract price) as an inconvenience fee.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by changing
5Section 5-412 as follows:
 
6    (605 ILCS 5/5-412)  (from Ch. 121, par. 5-412)
7    Sec. 5-412. The county board, of each county, may contract
8with persons growing row crops on land adjacent to county
9highways to buy standing strips of such crops to remain in
10place to act as snow breaks along such highways in those places
11where experience shows that drifting snow has been an
12obstruction to traffic. The contract price to be paid by the
13county board in any such case shall be the higher of the market
14price in the local area of such crop at the time of contracting
15or the current Commodity Credit Corporation target price. An
16additional sum of money equal to at least 10% of the contract
17price may be paid to the grower as an inconvenience fee.
