Biography: Former elementary and middle school teacher, gifted and special education teacher, high school guidance counselor, and former small business owner of a restaurant management firm; graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio; Master's Degree in Education, Northern Illinois University; Illinois State Director, Women in Government (2010-present); Co-Chair, Conference of Women Legislators' New Leadership Program; Board of Education Member, Glenbard High School District 87 (1993-2003)/ President (2001-2003); First Responder Response Readiness Award (2012); Housing Action IL Golden Trowel Award (2010); DuPage Housing Action's Legislator of the Year (2010); IL Assoc. of School Social Workers Legislator of the Year (2009); Western DuPage Special Recreation Assoc. Legislator of the Year (2007, 2008, 2011, 2012); Friend of Agriculture Award (2007, 2010, 2012); married (husband, Bill); four children (Andria, Peter, Deanna, and Michael).
