Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971. Extends the open enrollment deadline to February 28, 2014 for all persons eligible to receive Medicare benefits under a State-sponsored Medicare Advantage Plan for the 2014 calendar year. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971 |
| 5 | | is amended by adding Section 5.5 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 375/5.5 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 5.5. Medicare Advantage Plan; 2013 open enrollment |
| 8 | | deadline date. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the |
| 9 | | contrary, for all persons eligible to receive Medicare benefits |
| 10 | | under a State-sponsored Medicare Advantage Plan for the 2014 |
| 11 | | calendar year, the open enrollment deadline date is February |
| 12 | | 28, 2014.

| 13 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 14 | | becoming law.
