Amends various Acts relating to the governance of public universities in Illinois. Requires a university to notify its students, in writing, of any new fee or change to a current fee charged to students as soon as practical after the governing board of the university approves the fee or change. Effective July 1, 2012.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by adding Section 80 as follows:

(110 ILCS 305/80 new)

Sec. 80. Fee notification. The University shall notify its students, in writing, of any new fee or change to a current fee charged to students as soon as practical after the Board of Trustees approves the fee or change.

Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management Act is amended by adding Section 65 as follows:

Sec. 65. Fee notification. The University shall notify its students, in writing, of any new fee or change to a current fee charged to students as soon as practical after the Board approves the fee or change.

Section 15. The Chicago State University Law is amended by adding Section 5-175 as follows:

Sec. 5-175. Fee notification. The University shall notify its students, in writing, of any new fee or change to a current fee charged to students as soon as practical after the Board approves the fee or change.

Section 20. The Eastern Illinois University Law is amended by adding Section 10-175 as follows:

Section 25. The Governors State University Law is amended by adding Section 15-175 as follows:

Section 30. The Illinois State University Law is amended by adding Section 20-180 as follows:

Section 35. The Northeastern Illinois University Law is amended by adding Section 25-175 as follows:

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2012.
