<SynopsisText> Creates the Underground Storage Tank Task Force to study the problems facing the Underground Storage Tank Fund.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Committee Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Specifies that (i) the Fund has twice experienced funding shortages; (ii) the current shortage is requiring applicants for reimbursement to wait up to 18 months for payment; (iii) the costs associated with remediating leaking underground storage tanks in Illinois (rather than the costs of environmental clean-up in Illinois) are significantly higher than in other states; and (iv) current law does not contain adequate methods for monitoring and controlling costs at leaking underground storage tank sites. Enumerates several cost control approaches that the Task Force is to study. Makes other technical changes.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
