<reference>625 ILCS 5/12-610.2</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person may not operate a motor vehicle on a roadway while using an electronic communication device (rather than only prohibiting the composing, sending, or reading of electronic messages while operating a vehicle) unless the electronic communication device is used in hands-free or voice-activated mode or one of 5 other limited exceptions apply. Effective January 1, 2011.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Committee Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person 19 years of age or older may not drive a vehicle on a roadway (rather than may not drive a vehicle on a roadway in a school speed or construction zone) while using a wireless telephone unless the wireless telephone is being used in hands-free mode or being used for specified emergency or law enforcement purposes. Effective January 1, 2011.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
