| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4992 on page 4, |

| immediately below line 14, by inserting the following:

| "Section 10. The Vital Records Act is amended by adding |

| Section 24.2 as follows:

| (410 ILCS 535/24.2 new) |

| Sec. 24.2. Records for genealogical purposes. |
| 8 |
| Notwithstanding any other provision of law, any custodian of |
| 9 |
| vital records shall furnish, upon request, to any individual, |
| 10 |
| organization, or entity, for genealogical purposes, access to |
| 11 |
| or reproductions of original records and indexes pertaining to |
| 12 |
| births older than 100 years, deaths older than 50 years, and |
| 13 |
| marriages older than 75 years.".
