| necessary to protect the safety of persons or property. In |

| order to promote the safe implementation of this Section, the |
| 4 |
| fire department officer shall utilize an official fire |
| 5 |
| department vehicle with lighted red or white oscillating, |
| 6 |
| rotating, or flashing lights in accordance with subsection |
| 7 |
| (a)(2-4) of Section 12-215 of this Code and proper temporary |
| 8 |
| traffic control in accordance with the sections of the Illinois |
| 9 |
| Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices concerning temporary |
| 10 |
| traffic control and incident management. The officer should |
| 11 |
| also receive training in safe practices for accomplishing these |
| 12 |
| tasks near traffic. This Section shall not apply to highways |
| 13 |
| under the jurisdiction of the Illinois State Toll Highway |
| 14 |
| Authority.
The term "highway" shall have the meaning defined by |
| 15 |
| Section 1-126 of this Code.".
