| AN ACT concerning regulation.
|
| 2 |
| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Illinois Dental Practice Act is amended by |
| 5 |
| changing Section 8.1 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (225 ILCS 25/8.1) (from Ch. 111, par. 2308.1)
|
| 7 |
| (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2016)
|
| 8 |
| Sec. 8.1. No licensed dentist shall administer general |
| 9 |
| anesthesia or
conscious sedation without first applying for and
|
| 10 |
| and obtaining a
permit for such purpose from the Department. |
| 11 |
| The Department shall issue
such permit only after ascertaining |
| 12 |
| that the applicant possesses the
minimum qualifications |
| 13 |
| necessary to protect public safety. A person with a
dental |
| 14 |
| degree who administers anesthesia or conscious sedation
in an
|
| 15 |
| approved
hospital training program under the supervision of |
| 16 |
| either a licensed
dentist holding such permit or a physician |
| 17 |
| licensed to practice medicine in
all its branches shall not be |
| 18 |
| required to obtain such permit. |
