| AN ACT concerning regulation.
|

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|

| represented in the General Assembly:
|

| Section 5. The Medical Practice Act of 1987 is amended by |
| 5 |
| adding Section 54.7 as follows: |
| 6 |
| (225 ILCS 60/54.7 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 54.7. Physician delegation of authority; |
| 8 |
| administration of intense pulsed light system. A physician may |
| 9 |
| delegate the operation of an intense pulsed light system or a |
| 10 |
| laser for the purpose of epilation, photorejuvenation, or other |
| 11 |
| non-medical cosmetic procedures to a physician assistant, |
| 12 |
| advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, electrologist, or |
| 13 |
| other personnel, provided those persons operating the intense |
| 14 |
| pulsed light system or laser have adequate and appropriate |
| 15 |
| training in the use of the device, as recommended by the |
| 16 |
| manufacturer and as defined by rule.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 18 |
| becoming law.
