| AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1343

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1343, AS AMENDED, by |

| replacing everything after the enacting clause with the |
| 4 |
| following:

| "Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding |
| 6 |
| Section 8-205.5 as follows:
|

| (220 ILCS 5/8-205.5 new)
|
| 8 |
| Sec. 8-205.5. Termination of utilities prior to December 1, |
| 9 |
| 2007. Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act or any |
| 10 |
| other law to the contrary, a public utility that, on December |
| 11 |
| 31, 2005, served at least 100,000 electric customers in |
| 12 |
| Illinois may not terminate electric service to a residential |
| 13 |
| customer for nonpayment prior to December 1, 2007.

| Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 15 |
| becoming law.".
