| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business |
| 5 |
| Practices Act is amended by changing Section 2HH as follows:
|

| (815 ILCS 505/2HH)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 2HH. Billing and collection practices of electric
|
| 8 |
| service providers. Each person selling generation,
|
| 9 |
| transmission, distribution, metering, or billing of electric
|
| 10 |
| service shall display the name, the toll-free telephone number
|
| 11 |
| of such service provider, and a description of the services
|
| 12 |
| provided on all bills submitted to subscribers of such
|
| 13 |
| services. All personal information relating to the
subscriber |
| 14 |
| of generation, transmission, distribution, metering,
or |
| 15 |
| billing of electric service shall be maintained by the
service |
| 16 |
| providers solely for the purpose of generating the
bill for |
| 17 |
| such services, and shall not be divulged to any
other persons |
| 18 |
| with the exception of credit bureaus,
collection agencies, and |
| 19 |
| persons licensed to market electric
service in the State of |
| 20 |
| Illinois, without the written consent
of the subscriber.
