<reference>625 ILCS 5/11-1430 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person may not smoke in a vehicle if any person in the vehicle is a child 8 years of age or younger. Provides that a violation of the provision is a Class C misdemeanor.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the original bill, with a change and additions. Provides that a violation of the provision is a petty offense punishable by a fine of not more than $25 (rather than a Class C misdemeanor). Provides that a violation of the provision shall not be considered evidence of negligence, shall not limit the liability of an insurer, and shall not diminish any recovery for damages arising out of the ownership, maintenance, or operation of a motor vehicle. Provides that a law enforcement officer may not search or inspect a motor vehicle, its contents, the driver, or a passenger solely because of a violation of the provision.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
