Makes the minimum and maximum nomination petition signature requirements for independent General Assembly candidates the same as those for independent candidates for any district or political subdivision office (now, larger). Makes the period for filing all independent candidate petitions the same as that for new political party candidates (now, the same as that for established political party candidates).</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>

Reinserts the bill as introduced with the following changes: Further amends the Election Code. Removes the prohibition against a person voting at a primary if that person has: (i) signed the nomination petition of another party's candidate or an independent candidate for an office for which candidates are to be voted on at the primary or (ii) voted at another party's primary within the last 23 months.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
