| AN ACT concerning local government.

| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 |
| represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 |
| Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing Section |
| 5 |
| 5-55 as follows:
|
| 6 |
| (60 ILCS 1/5-55)
|
| 7 |
| Sec. 5-55. Duplicate township names. If the
the Secretary |
| 8 |
| of State, on comparing
the abstracts of the reports from the |
| 9 |
| several counties, finds that any 2 or
more townships are named |
| 10 |
| alike, he shall so inform the clerk of the county
which last |
| 11 |
| adopted the name. The county board of that county shall, at its |
| 12 |
| next
meeting, adopt for the township some different name. When |
| 13 |
| the name is adopted,
the county clerk shall inform the |
| 14 |
| Secretary of State as provided in Section
5-50. |
