| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 216 by replacing |

| everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |

| Section 11-1429 as follows:

| (625 ILCS 5/11-1429 new) |
| 7 |
| Sec. 11-1429. No passengers under 18 in truck cargo area. |
| 8 |
| (a) A person may not operate a second division vehicle on a |
| 9 |
| public highway while the cargo area of that vehicle is occupied |
| 10 |
| by any person who is under the age of 18 years. |
| 11 |
| (b) This Section does not apply to the following: |
| 12 |
| (1) recreational vehicles or truck campers; |
| 13 |
| (2) a vehicle being used in farming operations; |
| 14 |
| (3) a vehicle being used in an emergency situation; or |
| 15 |
| (4) a vehicle being driven in a parade.".
