Provides that a municipal police department, or the county sheriff's office of a county if the school district, park district, or college or university is located in an unincorporated area or in a municipality without a police department, upon request of a public school district, public park district, or public college or university located within the municipality or located in an unincorporated area of the county or within a municipality that does not have a police department, may conduct a fingerprint-based criminal history records check to determine if an applicant for employment with the district, college, or university has been convicted of any offense that would disqualify the applicant for employment with the district, college, or university. Provides that the information obtained from the background check is confidential. Provides that any person who releases any confidential information concerning any criminal convictions of an applicant for employment shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor, unless the release of such information is authorized by law.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
