<SynopsisText>     Creates the Long-Term Prisoner Study Committee to examine whether life without parole and sentences over 30 years are necessary for public safety and are the best use of State funds. Report due by June 1, 2007.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Provides that the Committee shall study and examine issues related to prisoners sentenced to life without parole and prisoners with sentences longer than 30 years. Provides that the Committee shall always give priority to public safety and the best use of State funds. Corrects a numerical error in the total number of committee members.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 2</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Provides that C number prisoners are included in the study. Adds a member appointed by the Director of Corrections. Provides that the Department of Corrections shall provide staff and administrative support to the Committee.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
