    Amends the Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail Technology Act of 1985.
Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the inactive status of the
license of a cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, or cosmetology clinic teacher.

    AN ACT in relation to the regulation of professions.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 
3
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Barber, Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail

5
Technology Act of 1985 is amended by changing Section 3-7.1 as 
6
follows:

    (225 ILCS 410/3-7.1)  (from Ch. 111, par. 1703-7.1)

    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2006)

    Sec. 3-7.1. Inactive Status; restoration from inactive 
10
status.  Any
cosmetologist, cosmetology
teacher, or cosmetology 
11
clinic teacher who notifies the
Department in writing on forms 
12
prescribed by the Department, may elect to
place his or her 
13
license on an inactive status and shall, subject to rules
of 
14
the Department, be excused from payment of renewal fees until 
15
he or she
notifies the Department in writing of his or her 
16
desire to resume active
status.

    Any cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, or cosmetology 
18
clinic
teacher requesting restoration from
inactive status 
19
shall be required to pay the current renewal fee and to qualify

20
for the restoration of
his or her license, subject to rules of 
21
the Department.  A license shall not
be restored from inactive 
22
status unless the cosmetologist,
cosmetology
teacher, or 
23
cosmetology clinic teacher requesting the restoration 
24
completes
the number of hours of continuing
education required 
25
for renewal of a license under Section 3-7.

    Any cosmetologist, cosmetology teacher, or cosmetology 
27
clinic
teacher whose license is in an inactive
status shall not 
28
practice in the State of Illinois.
