<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>65 ILCS 5/8-3-14</reference><aliasreference>from Ch. 24, par. 8-3-14</aliasreference><SynopsisText>Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that the amounts collected by any municipality from the tax on hotel rooms authorized to be imposed in a municipality under the Code shall be expended by the municipality as follows: (1) 20% shall be allocated to the local convention and tourism bureau; (2) 40% shall be allocated to the municipality for unrestricted use; (3) 10% shall be allocated to hotels in the municipality to be used for marketing purposes, but that, if the convention and visitors bureau of a municipality undertakes the marketing for hotels in that municipality, then this 10% shall instead be allocated to the convention and visitors bureau for marketing purposes; and (4) 30% shall be allocated to the municipality, but its use shall be restricted solely to promote tourism and conventions within that municipality or otherwise to attract nonresident overnight visitors to the municipality (now the amounts collected may be used solely to promote tourism and conventions within that municipality or otherwise to attract nonresident overnight visitors to the municipality).
