<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>20 ILCS 2605/2605-560 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>Amends the Department of State Police Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that any manufacturer that ships or transports a handgun to be sold, rented, or transferred in this State shall include in the box with the handgun in a separate sealed container: (1) a shell casing of a projectile discharged from that handgun; and (2) additional information that identifies the type of handgun and shell casing as required by the Director of State Police. Provides that upon receipt of a handgun from the manufacturer, the dealer shall confirm to the Department of State Police that the manufacturer complied with these provisions. Provides that upon the sale or transfer of the handgun, the dealer shall forward the sealed container to the Department of State Police crime laboratory which shall enter the information into a computer database. Provides that the Director of State Police shall promulgate rules to carry out these provisions. Effective January 1, 2004.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
