<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>New Act</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Creates the Athlete Agents Act. Requires agents for student athletes to register with the Department of Professional Regulation and establishes registration procedures, criteria, and requirements for these athlete agents. Provides that all information required by the Department of any applicant for registration, except financial information, is a public record. Authorizes the Department to issue a temporary registration while a registration application or renewal of registration is pending. Provides disciplinary grounds. Establishes requirements for agency contracts subject to the Act. Requires both the athlete agent and the student-athlete to promptly notify the appropriate educational institution after the contract is entered into. Provides an educational institution damaged by a violation of the Act with a civil remedy against the involved athlete agent and the student athlete. Establishes record-keeping requirements for athlete agents. Prohibits athlete agents from engaging in specified conduct, subject to criminal and administrative penalties.
