Eliminates as an element of the offense that the defendant must be in possession of a dangerous weapon in the commission of or attempted commission of an offense. Increases the penalty for a first offense from a Class A misdemeanor to a Class 3 felony and for a second or subsequent offense from a Class 4 felony to a Class 2 felony.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
