<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>730 ILCS 5/5-9-1.12 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Unified Code of Corrections. Provides that in addition to any other penalty imposed, a fine of $500 shall be imposed upon a person who is convicted of arson, residential arson, or aggravated arson. Provides that the fine shall be distributed to the fire department or fire protection district that suppressed or investigated the fire that was set by the defendant and for which the defendant was convicted of arson, residential arson, or aggravated arson. Provides that the moneys distributed from the additional fine may only be used to purchase fire suppression or fire investigation equipment. Effective immediately.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Provides that the clerk and the State Fire Marshal shall each retain 5% rather than 10% of the arson fines for the clerk for administration purposes. Provides that if the Office of the State Fire Marshal suppressed or investigated the fire, the Office of the State Fire Marshal shall retain the additional fines attributed to the Office's suppression or investigation of the fire.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
