<reference>40 ILCS 5/4-114</reference><aliasreference>from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 4-114</aliasreference><reference>30 ILCS 805/8.27 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Downstate Firefighters Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that the surviving spouse of a deceased firefighter shall be entitled to a pension in an amount equal to the amount payable to the deceased firefighter at the time of his or her death. Provides that, upon the death of a surviving spouse, each unmarried, minor child under age 18 shall be entitled to a share of the pension of the deceased surviving spouse. Provides that if a deceased firefighter leaves no surviving spouse or unmarried children under age 18, but leaves a dependent father or mother, the dependent parents shall be entitled to receive or share a pension equal to the pension to which the deceased firefighter was entitled at the time of his or her death. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>Pension Note (Pension Laws Commission)</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>HB 2620 would increase the accrued liability of the Downstate Firefighters' pension funds by $157.9 million. The resulting increase in total annual cost is estimated to be $11.8 million, or 3.37% of payroll. The increase in accrued liability and annual cost would vary by individual fund and would increase commensurate with payroll.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
