<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>New Act</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><reference>30 ILCS 500/20-17 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Creates the Illinois Living Wage Act. Provides that certain employers must pay employees a living wage rate that is set by the Director of Labor. Requires employers to provide continued employment to certain employees when a contract provides for the continuation of services currently provided by another contractor. Requires employers to post notice of employee's rights under the Act. Allows the Director to investigate violations of the Act. Sets penalties for violations of the Act. Prohibits retaliation against employees who exercise their rights under the Act. Amends the Illinois Procurement Code. Requires the procurement officer to determine the level of the State's vulnerability to labor unrest before issuing invitations for bids or requests for proposals for service contracts. Requires those bids and proposals to (i) include assurance of protection against labor discord and (ii) certify that the contractor will comply with the Illinois Living Wage Act. Provides that if during the duration of the contract, a contractor fails to comply with the Illinois Living Wage Act, the contract is voidable.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
