<reference>705 ILCS 105/16</reference><aliasreference>from Ch. 25, par. 16</aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Clerks of Courts Act. Provides that a military discharge form (DD form 214) is not a public record and is not subject to public inspection. Provides that upon request of the veteran or a designee of the veteran, the record of the form shall be expunged from the court record and replaced with a form containing only the name of the veteran, his or her date of discharge from military service, and the date of the issuance of the discharge form.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>House Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>

Amends the Counties Code. Provides that a certificate of military discharge or release from active duty (DD 214) or MEMBER-4 copy of certificate of discharge or release from active duty issued by the United States government and filed with the recorder is not a public record and is not subject to public inspection. Provides that, upon request by the veteran designated on the certificate or MEMBER-4 copy or by a person designated by that veteran to make the request, the recorder shall expunge the record of the certificate or MEMBER-4 copy from the record of the recorder and replace it with a form that contains only the name of the veteran, the date of his or her discharge from military service, and the date of the issuance of the original military discharge form.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
