<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>15 ILCS 205/4.5 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><reference>20 ILCS 2605/2605-395 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Attorney General Act and the Department of State Police Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of State Police shall compile statistics concerning criminal and traffic law enforcement, including those relating to the frequency of traffic stops and the age, race, ethnicity, and sex of the person stopped, the alleged violations that led to the stop, whether the vehicle or persons in the vehicle were searched, and whether an arrest resulted from the stop. Provides that the Attorney General shall investigate any complaints involving disparities in the enforcement of criminal laws and traffic laws of this State based upon race, ethnicity, age, or sex and shall publish an annual report of his or her investigations. Provides that the Department of State Police shall engage the Center for Public Safety at Northwestern University to analyze the information collected and to compare it with similar information gathered by federal agencies. Provides that the Center for Public Safety at Northwestern University shall study and analyze the collected information and shall provide the Governor, the Attorney General, and the General Assembly with the collected and analyzed information on an annual basis, or more often if required by the Governor. <SynopsisText>Provides that the Department of State Police shall engage a university statistical research center not affiliated with the State of Illinois (rather than the Center for Public Safety at Northwestern University) to analyze the collected data and provide reports to the Governor, the Attorney General, and the General Assembly.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
