Provides a widow's annuity for the surviving spouse of a firefighter with at least 20 years of service who dies after withdrawing from service but before qualifying for a retirement annuity. Increases the minimum widow's annuity to $1,200 per month for surviving spouses of firefighters who have retired at age 50 or over with at least 20 years of service, and $800 per month for all other surviving spouses who qualify for an annuity. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>Pension Note (Pension Laws Commission)</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>The fiscal impact of HB 317 has not been determined. According to the Fund's actuary, similar legislation would increase the accrued liability of the Fund by an estimated $28.0 million. The level dollar annual payment needed to amortize this estimated increase in unfunded liability over 40 years is $1.9 million.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
